STREET FOOD CATERING: GOING UNDERGROUND
Last week, Buoy & Fodder stepped through a modest green door, on a hidden-away side street, to journey underground – and create a bespoke street food banquet.
The Venue
Tucked down a blink-and-you’d-miss-it alley running under Park Street, Avery’s is one of Bristol’s truly unique spaces. Purveyors of fine wine, they have been pioneers of the trade since 1793. Their wine cellars are intimate, immersive, and the perfect venue to spring a surprise.
The Menu
The occasion was a surprise 70th birthday. The client wanted a two-course street food feast, catering for 75 guests, including foodies, big-eaters and vegetarians. Fodder’s menu balances fine-dining and delicious street readiness, making them the perfect fit.
On the day, Fodder’s founder, Freddie, served up a starter of smoked salmon and potato salad with lemon sauce. The meat-free alternative was veggie tempura, with red pepper and smoked paprika dressing. Perfect party grub, with a grab-and-go service style.
The headline dish was Fodder’s signature Bristol Bomb, with three flavours to choose between: lamb shwarma, portobello mushroom or Thai chicken. Encased in panko breadcrumbs on a crunchy asian salad, think scotch egg with the handbrake off (and no egg).
STREET FOOD CATERING
Bristol’s street food scene is making a name for itself, with some of the most creative menus in the city now being served kerbside. With over 40 of the very best on our books, catering to any brief is a cinch, with a frankly dizzying array of cuisines to choose between.
